Riporto una nota del ministero del lavoro, della salute e delle politiche sociali, del 6 ottobre scorso, che annuncia di aver istituito, in collaborazione con la Federazione nazionale degli Ordini dei medici veterinari italiani, con le principali Associazioni culturali di medicina veterinary behavioral and academia a " training" for dog owners, as stipulated by March 3, 2009 on "protecting public safety from attack by dogs."
The note specifies that the objective to be pursued through this training program is the creation of the proper relationship between man and dog, but often poorly managed old relationship in our society.

Senza scivolare nel razzismo (demonizzando una razza piuttosto che un’altra) o nell’altrettanto nocivo “pietismo” verso i cani, è necessario avere a disposizioni strumenti e metodi efficaci, privilegiando la prevenzione dei problemi e fornendo soluzioni adeguate in caso di patologie o comportamenti indesiderati o peggio pericolosi.
L’educazione al rispetto ed alla civile coesistenza è un obiettivo raggiungibile che richiede strumenti adeguati, determinazione ed impegno.
Il percorso formativo che da oggi viene messo a disposizione dei medici veterinari e delle Istituzioni deputate ad organizzare i percorsi formativi (art. 1, comma 4 dell’ordinanza) è il modello univoco da seguire per l’impostazione e l’organizzazione dei corsi di base cui tutti i proprietari di cani possono accedere volontariamente. È, quindi, lo strumento di cui avvalersi per far conoscere ai proprietari quali siano i doveri e le responsabilità che derivano dalla scelta di convivere con un cane nonché le esigenze etologiche ed il linguaggio del proprio compagno a quattro zampe al fine di evitare errori di educazione, di impostazione relationship and communication that can cause problems.

The training materials - paper and on computer - will be distributed to all veterinarians Italians, both public and private, that every day is dedicated to providing information and knowledge to those who live with a dog.

The training courses are voluntary, available to all dog owners or people who want to become, however, the Mayor together with the official veterinary service as part of their task of protecting public safety, may make it mandatory for owners of dogs declared to be at high risk for aggression.
Beyond the protest Codancons, in some ways understandable criticism of the ministry had not made compulsory in advance for this course owners of dogs of the breeds considered to be potentially more dangerous, aggressive behavior occurs without waiting for, I personally believe this initiative is a strong signal of change in the world of dogs.
Undoubtedly difficulties will begin the practical implementation of this path (in any case less than perfect), but it sure is a good start, because it indicates to all and especially to dog owners that often is not enough 's love and goodwill to make a dog well socialized and well educated, but also requires a big sense of responsibility and a discrete body of knowledge and skills to achieve very articulate to establish a balanced and respectful of the dignity of an animal that always gives us so much and received little in return from us.
